For Christmas, our condo Christmas tree gets a coastal makeover, decorated with seashells instead of traditional ornaments. It’s a small but meaningful way we blend classic holiday traditions with the place we love most: right here by the sea.
A Christmas Tree That Belongs by the Water
When you’re celebrating the holidays with the Gulf just beyond the balcony, it only makes sense to let the surroundings shape the décor. Our seashell Christmas tree doesn’t try to imitate a snowy postcard. Instead, it reflects coastal living—soft lights, natural textures, and the calming presence of the ocean outside the window.

Every Shell Tells a Story
One of our favorite things about using seashells as ornaments is that no two are alike. Each shell has been shaped over time by waves and tide, polished slowly by nature itself.
Like memories, shells are collected along the way. They remind us of beach walks, quiet mornings, and the kind of unhurried moments that make time by the water so special. Hanging them on the tree feels less like decorating and more like remembering.

Of course, no Christmas setup would be complete without a little holiday spirit—and around here, that spirit usually shows up wearing an elf hat.
Jill, one of the owners, is affectionately known as “Jelf” during the Christmas season (a festive blend of Jill + Elf). If there’s a tree to decorate or lights to straighten, chances are you’ll find Jelf nearby—often sporting her signature elf hat with ears and making sure every detail feels just right.
It’s all part of the fun, and part of the heart behind the space.
